Match Report – BACUP BOROUGH v ECCLESHALL

BACUP BOROUGH -3-ECCLESHALL -O

DOUBLE TROUBLE FROM BRYAN & MORRISON
Bacup Borough opened their 2017/18 season with a comprehensive victory over Staffordshire side Eccleshall
Matthew Bryan & Wayne Morrison proving to be double trouble with three assists from Bryan, Morrison thrived on the supply line from Bryan by complimenting Bryan’s Quality with a superb hattrick, such was Bacup Borough’s dominance Wayne Morrison himself could easily have doubled his goal tally of three. The opening goal came mid- way through the first half when Matthew Bryan latched onto a forward pass, Bryan’s pace got him behind the visitors defence, unselfishly he squared for Morrison who’s first time shot was blocked by their advancing keeper, has the ball came back to him, this time Morrison made no mistake, putting Bacup a goal ahead, just prior to this Wayne Morrison had seen an earlier effort rebound back off the cross bar.
Despite Bacup Borough’s dominance the home side only had a slender one goal to separate both sides, this could have been different with 42 minutes on the clock Eccleshall started to get into good areas, finding space and almost equalised but Adrian Bellamy managed to get his body in the way of what would have been a stone wall equaliser has keeper Harris was beaten.

The Bacup Borough Manager made a change at the break bringing on Stuart Craig replacing young Benjamin Rhodes, within minutes of the re start Anthony Hall had a chance to have doubled the home sides lead when Wayne Morrison putting the ball across the face of goal which had Hall got his timing right he would most definitely have got himself on the score sheet, Manager Brent Peters made another substitution introducing Elliott Collinson who replaced Alexander Chew, it was the substitute Collinson that put through Matthew Bryan who burst clear of the Eccleshall defence but the Staffordshire sides keeper starting position was good from which he was quickly onto it blocking Bryans effort.

Bacup Borough Manager Peters made his third substitution with Kieron Turner replacing Anthony Hall, it did not take Turner long to find himself in the Referee’s book when he was put through, advancing into the Eccleshall penalty area where he then was accused of simulation after going down in the box following a coming together, On eighty four minutes Bacup doubled their lead when some neat football found Matthew Bryan who from this did all of the work, then unselfishly placed the ball on a plate for his strike partner Morrison to score.

Despite a gallant effort from Eccleshall, Bacup in the closing stages of the game added a third goal when Elliott Collinson found Matthew Bryan who put in a quality cross from which Wayne Morrison headed home completing his hattrick, complimented by three Matthew Bryan assists in an entertaining match.
