Chadderton 5-4 Bacup Borough

New signing Jason Jarrett bags a debut brace as Borough find themselves on the wrong side of a 9 goal thriller.

If the reverse fixture at the Brian Boys West View Stadium was anything to go by we were in for goals and that’s what this game delivered.

Chadderton took an early lead on 4 minutes. The hosts got a second with 18 minutes of the clock after the Boro defence failed to clear a Chadderton corner.

After conceding the second goal Borough were creating chances, with both Collinson and Welsh going close. The Bacup pressure paid off when Matty Bryan used his strength and pace to get away from his man, before finding debutant Jason Jarrett who got a goal back just after the hour mark.

As the first half came to a close, Borough saw themselves down to 10 men after midfielder Charlie Collinge saw red after an off the ball incident. At the half time interval Chadderton lead 2-1.

The second half began with Bacup on the front foot and within 5 minutes of the restart Matty Bryan got his name on the scoresheet, Jarretts close range shot was parried and Bryan nodded home from 6 yards out to equalise.
Bryan got his second 3 minutes later, a clinical finish past the Chadderton keeper to give Borough the lead for the first time in the game.

Bacup carried on creating chances and could of seen themselves further in front if it wasn’t for (keeper) in the Chadderton Goal. But with 7 minutes left of normal time, after withstanding the Borough barrage Chadderton equalised.

The scores weren’t level for long, Borough retook the lead as Jarrett got his second of the game, a close range finish following a Goal mouth scramble as the Chadderton defence failed to clear following a Borough corner.

The final few minutes saw a dramatic twist as the hosts scored twice in 3 minutes to equalise and then grab the winner and break Bacup hearts as it had looked like all three points were heading back to the Rossendale valley.
