As the curtain came down on…..

….another season at The Brian Boys West View Stadium The Bacup Manager Brent Peters had this to say “ The fact we have completed all of our home fixtures with still two weeks of the season left and  having not had to encounter our  usual seasonal postponements creating multiple games to be played in a short space of time at the end of the season is testament to the hard work we put in the summer and investment we did put into our playing surface, Peters added, it has been far from easy both manually and financially but given this season we have been able to facilitate all of our Youth fixtures, u10, u13,u18, u21 on the senior pitch, this along  with the senior teams fixtures, with no postponements for waterlogging proves that the  hard work and money was well spent, Peters added “ the two postponements we did encounter was for snow and the devastation created by Storm Gareth that severely damaged our changing facilities, a situation we just could not do anything about.

On the playing side of our operation, whilst we still have two outstanding away fixtures to complete, looking back over the season in its entirety I am more than pleased how far we have come with a very talented young squad, take away the experience of Michael Gervin, Laquan Esdaille, Adrian Bellamy, the remainder of our squad members are aged between sixteen and twenty one years of age, the majority of which have progressed from our own Youth Structure into the demands of a League that is renowned for its competitiveness and high demands, not withstanding the demands both my self and my first team coach David Felgate place onto the boys in order to survive and progress to hopefully bigger and better things, Peters added “ the boys have been a credit to work with, given that this is probably one of the youngest squads I have assembled, given the demands of the competition we are participating in, some of the football these boys have produced  has a team as been pleasurable to watch, Peters added” the fact that the boys did not progress to a Cup Final following a two legged Semi Final with Avro really did come down to fine margins, in experience in decision making in vital positions and at crucial times in both games were most definitely the key factors were the reasons why we was so near a big day that these boys deserved but yet so far, but disappointments is part of the game, hopefully going forward their mind sets will be better from this, learn from where it went wrong and from this ensure they are better for it going forward in their football progression. In the League we are currently eighth with two games remaining, again given the fact in some instances, there is quite a lot of the players, playing their first full season at the level, I really do think the season has been a positive one for many reasons.

Peters finished by saying “ Both myself and Dave Felgate are proud of the way the squad in the main have conducted themselves representing our club, the commitment and desire they have shown, the entertainment value they have produced, I truly hope our supporters feel the same way, I would also like to thank their contribution along with all those that have contributed in anyway in ensuring that when we are down for what ever the reasons have been, that with their help and contributions, we have managed to get back up again, it really has been appreciated “
