Bacup Looking To Tame Bears

Bacup Borough travel to face high flying Congleton Town tomorrow at the start of a crucial spell of six games that could effectively determine the course of their season. During these 6 matches Borough will face all of the current top four, as well as playing cup matches in the two remaining competitions they are left in. It goes without saying that this is really make or break time for our young side.

For Saturday’s trip Bacup must plan without the suspended duo of team captain Daniel Cocks and vice captain Otis Gorman, the former for a series of bookings and the latter for the red card he received at Norton United. In both cases the bans are for one match only and both will be available for selection at Nelson on Wednesday night.

Congleton currently lie in second place in the North West Counties League Premier Division table, three points behind leaders Runcorn Town but with a game in hand. They have won 8 and drawn 2 of their 13 league games. Their three defeats have come against two of the other teams in the top four, Bootle and Runcorn Town, as well as an away defeat at Maine Road. They have, however, not taken this excellent form into cup competitions, losing out to teams from a level lower in both the FA Cup with Budweiser and the FA Carlsberg Vase. Atherton Colleries ended their Cup interest, whilst Baris NCEL Division One side AFC Emley knocked them out of the Vase.

As usual any supporters unable to make the trip can get live Twitter feeds on both the official twitter feed @bacupborough and the commercial department feed @bacupboro .
