Barnoldswick Provide Latest Tough Test

Bacup Borough FC face another tough away trip this weekend when they travel to face a Barnoldswick Town side still very much involved in the promotion hunt. Seventh placed Barnoldswick have won 9 and drawn 6 of their 18 games so far this season and with two games in hand on the top three they have the chance to draw themselves level with the current pacesetters. They are also still in the FA Carlsberg Vase and face NCEL outfit AFC Emley at home in Round 3 next weekend. Last week Baronoldswick lost 2-1 away at another of their promotion rivals, Congleton Town.

At the home fixture between the sides back in August, Daniel Cocks cancelled out Mark Threlfall’s early opener for the visitors. However, second half efforts from Stewart Airdrie and Shaun Airey saw Barnoldwick run out 3-1 winners.

Manager Brent Peters will be thinking carefully about his team selection prior to the game, with new signings David Grey and Martin Cosgrave added to the squad. Gareth Wager, Artjoms Butorins and Lee Oldham are all also close to being back in contention following injury and so Peters is likely to have several options available when considering team formation and shape.

The game at the Silentnight Stadium kicks off at 3 pm on Saturday. As ever we welcome our travelling support, but if you are unable to attend you can follow the action on either of our Twitter feeds: @bacupborough and @bacupboro.
