Bacup Borough FC are delighted to announce a new business partnership with the University College of Football Business based at Turf Moor, home of Burnley FC. The college is the first in the country to offer University Degrees in football related business disciplines such as Football Media, Football Finance and Football Marketing and prepares students for jobs working in football and its related industries.
As part of the partnership Bacup Borough will be receiving 8 students from UCFB to work as interns under the guidance of Business Development Executive Dave Edler. 4 of the students will form a new media team at the club and amongst other tasks will be launching a new in-house internet TV Channel, BBTV. The other 4 students will be forming a new marketing team to further develop commercial opportunities for the club.
The scheme is facilitated by the Head of Year one at the college, former Watford player Richard Flash. Edler expressed delight at this latest development: “This is a really exciting move for Bacup Borough FC. With a new team of 8 working for the club we can help these students develop and give them a real insight into grass roots football and the problems and issues clubs face in the lower levels of the game. It is quite likely that their first jobs in football will be at non-league or lower league clubs so the insights they gain whilst working for Bacup will hopefully prove invaluable in enhancing their future career prospects. From our point of view, the extra hands on deck will greatly improve the speed at which we can roll out a lot of the new initiatives that myself and Brent Peters have planned for the club going forward”.
Some of the new students are set to attend the memorial match against AFC Liverpool tomorrow night at the Brian Boys West View Stadium, kick-off 8pm.
