Borough Expecting Tough Cup Test

Bacup Borough start their FA Cup with Busweiser campaign on Saturday with a tough looking Extra Preliminary Round tie away to Winterton Rangers of the Baris NCEL. Winterton finished in 5th place in a league that boasts strong sides such as Scarborough Athletic and Bridlington Town and the fact that Winterton have surrendered home advantage by switching the game to Selby Town’s ground will not diminish the challenge that Bacup face. Winterton started their campaign with a hard fought 0-0 draw against a fancied Parkgate side last Saturday but like ourselves went down away from home in midweek, losing 0-2 to Tadcaster Albion. Manager Brent Peters expects to have Paul Horridge and Gareth Wager back available as he looks to make progress in this financially lucrative competition. In the event of a draw after 90 minutes there is no extra time and the teams would replay next Wednesday August 15th at the Brian Boys West View Stadium. In that instance the scheduled home league fixture with Barnoldswick Town would have to be re-arranged. If Barnoldswick draw in their fixture with Barton Town Old Boys then this would also mean that Wednesdays game would not go ahead.
