Bacup Borough travel to face Winsford United in Cheshire tomorrow afternoon (3pm) looking to bounce back after Tuesday nights calamitous night at the XLCR stadium in Colne. They are likely to have to do so without goalkeeper Ryan Jones, who still has severe bruising from the injury that caused him to leave the field at half-time on Tuesday evening. Paul Arrowsmith is expected to be added to the squad after missing Tuesday’s game through illness.
Winsford were the very first fixture for Borough this season back in August, but despite a well crafted second half goal when Lee Oldham delivered a perfect cross for Kinglsey Williams to finish, Bacup went down 2-1. There are likely to be just four survivors from that opening fixture in the starting line-up tomorrow as manager Brent Peters has looked to develop and strengthen his squad this season.
Winsford were expected to mount a title challenge this season but currently lie in mid table. They are currently in 11th place, having won 8, drawn 3 and lost 5 of their 16 fixtures. Included in those victories was a whopping 8-1 victory over AFC Liverpool, whilst their last league game saw them beat Wigan Robin Park 5-1. They are still in the FA Carlsberg Vase, their 1-0 win over Morpeth Town last Saturday setting up a Round 3 clash with fellow NWCL Premier Division outfit Runcorn Town on December 8th.
As usual we hope as many Bacup fans as possible will make the trip. However, if you are unable to travel a reminder that you can keep up with the action by following us on Twitter @bacupborough and @bacupboro for all the latest updates.
