Borough On Maine Road To Cup Glory

Bacup Borough FC travel to fellow NWCL Premier Division outfit Maine Road later today in their second FA Cup with Budweiser outing of the season. The game at Brantingham Road kicks-off at 3pm. Maine Road progressed to this stage like ourselves with a 3-0 win in the Extra Preliminary Round, their opponents being Squires Gate. They warmed up for the cup fixture with a fine 4-1 away win at Stone Dominoes on Tuesday night, although last weekend they suprisingly lost 1-3 at home to Colne. They also have wins over Runcorn Linnets and AFC Liverpool this season, whilst their other league defeat was away at Wigan Robin Park on the opening day.

Manager Brent Peters will be hoping that Daniel Cocks passes a late fitness test, whilst Kingsley Williams is also expected to be back in contention after missing Wednesday’s win over AFC Blackpool. Lee Oldham, however, is still 4-6 weeks away from contention following the medial ligament damage he suffered at Silsden. If the scores are level after 90 minutes there will be a replay at the Brian Boys West View Stadium next Wednesday.
