Bacup & Rossendale Borough end their run of losses with a goalless draw away at Barnoldswick Town.

They made three changes to the unlucky loss at Glossop North End with Richard Walker coming back in as well as debuts for namesakes Charlie and Daniel Holt.

On a bitterly cold night in Barnoldswick things heated up on the pitch early on and not in the form of goals or chances, in terms of meaty tackles and fierce battles.

All in all in the first half there was very little clear cut chances to report but Adrian Bellamy headed on target after some good play by the away side. Barnoldswick also hit the target but again were very tame efforts and nothing to trouble Jakovlevs in the BARB goal. However the best chance of the half did fall to the side in pink as Glodi Kuba-Kuba slipped, got back up and found himself away from the defence but his shot didn’t have any power on it.

Half-Time: Barnoldswick 0-0 Bacup

The second half had to be than the first and indeed it was as the chances started to leak through for both sides. Scott Byrom headed just wide for Barlick and a few minutes later a mix up between the home team’s goalkeeper and defender allowed Adrian Bellamy to capitalize and nip in but his poked shot cannoned into the keeper’s midriff.

Just four minutes into the half and Laquan Esdaille was the next man to go close as his glancing header from a free-kick looped just wide of the mark.

The yellows who were now kicking towards their chirpy  fans in ‘the sewer end’ then had a few chances as Martin Broderick hit the post from all of 30 yards, Joel Melia blasted wildly into the sky from close range and also Matthew Cavanagh headed over when unmarked.

Bacup always looked dangerous when going forward though and Tom Currie wasn’t far off when he cut inside and beat two but his shot went comfortably over the crossbar.

Coming into the nitty gritty period of the game and Barlick struck the woodwork again through Byrom but the Borough had the final chance as substitute Matty Maine chipped in a cracking cross over the defence to pick out Bellamy but he opts to come inside instead of hitting it at his first chance and when he does pull the trigger it gets blocked.

Full-Time: Barnoldswick Town 0-0 Bacup & Rossendale Borough

A result that sees the Borough stop the bad run of losses and pick up their first clean sheet of the season.
