BRENT PETERS’ OFFICIAL RESPONSE CELEBRATING 20 YEARS AT BACUP BOROUGH
Monday 28th May 2018
Wow, I have been blown away by the kind words and response from Club Executives, Players, Supporters, Former /Current Players of mine, all from various levels of football highlighting my twenty years at Bacup Borough Football Club, Congratulating me, something I am most humbled, Grateful but proud of the kind messages that have come to me personally and also what I have seen coming in through the various Football Club’s Media Channels, the kind words mean a lot to me, I have had to pinch myself and also ask myself the question of what have I done to deserve this? Obviously I know what I have done, achieving such a milestone in extremely difficult economic times, also the ever demanding change’s on Stadium improvements in order to meet the required standards throughout the National Leagues, keeping a football club going is no mean feat, however I want to place on record, clubs through out Non League Football really only exist because they themselves have people like myself that have shown the same commitment and desire for their clubs, just like I have done at Bacup Borough, that is why Non-League Football & Clubs do survives, so I personally take my hat off to those clubs and people at those clubs that ensure their Football Clubs also stay in existence.
When Debra my Personal Assistant told me that she personally had approached Simon Holding a former player and Assistant Manager of mine, along with the clubs Historian Rodger Hindle to run an event to mark this milestone, my reaction was oh know, the reason being I was sceptical just how this would be received, but having witnessed the reaction I have to say I have been really blown away by it all, to Debra I really am truly grateful along with Simon and Rodger, those three pulled everything together to make it such an incredible event, a special mention and credit must go to Debra has she had the unbelievable task of going back throughout my twenty years, identifying the players, through networking finding them and inviting them to all come back together to celebrate, the fact that over fifty five players wanted to participate in some part of the game, tells you Debra has done a magnificent job and needs applauding for her efforts, in addition the amount of former players and their families that turned up but did not take any part in the game was for me great to see, I thank them all for being part of a what was a great occasion, I would also like to thank Darwen and Rossendale MP Jake Berry for his contribution in the official brochure along with Peter Smith from Sky Sports Soccer Saturday, David Burgess the Accrington Stanley Chief Executive, our very own Michael Carr and Geoff Wilkinson the Vice Chairman and Ground Grading Chairman of The North West Counties League, I would like to thank the advertisers, my staff to whom worked the event, Our Media Man Matthew Lawson to whom worked hard in producing a magnificent and touching video which can be viewed on you tube.
Thank you goes to my Captain Adrian Bellamy, Vice Captain Matthew Bryan, Lee Oldham,
Tommy Allen for the support they have given me in the past and continue to give me now, all the players and their families that did make the effort to be at the event, a special mention for Daniel Cocks to whom made the trip from the Midlands where he now resides, the graphic designer of the Brochure Andy Rushton, the live band you, me and the machine, Andrew Barlow for being on hand to take some special photographs of the day, Amy, Billie Jo, Tommy, Rhona, louise, Jimmy Petruzi, Andrew Walker, Darren Reece and Joanne, Alison & Peter along with every one else that did volunteer to help out where required, also all of the families that turned out to support the event from which the proceeds will be divided between the Sophie Lancaster Foundation, Rossendale Hospice and Bacup Borough Football Club.
From the Bottom of My Heart I thank you all, this was a remarkable day that will stay with me until the end.
