Clean Sheet But Few Thrills At Wigan

Bacup gave a workmanlike performance in holding Wigan Robin Park to a goalless draw in an even encounter at the Robin Park Arena this evening. Both sides had chances to win the game, probably the pick of the bunch being in the 25th minute when Tommy Turner superbly teed up David Gray, but he drove his effort wide with only the keeper to beat when he should at least have hit the target. Paul Horridge also came to Boro’s rescue on occasions, clearing one dangerous Sean White cross off the line. There was also a late chance for Bacup to win it when Daniel Cocks fed Darren Evans, but his shot rebounded to safety off the legs of goalkeeper and team captain Jay Foulds. However, it is another vital point for Borough as they look to complete their fixture backlog and climb clear of safety. The next challenge comes from Stockport Sports on Thursday night at the Brian Boys West View Stadium, kick-off 8pm.
