Solid performance pleases manager Peters
When speaking about Thursday’s 2-1 victory against New Mills at the West View Stadium, this is what manager Brent Peters had to say.
‘I was well impressed, obviously we haven’t played in quite sometime, the lads have trained well and been focused and have worked hard in training’ Peters added ‘ You can’t beat playing games’
This after a dominant display which saw Matthew Barlow and Matthew Bryan scoring the goals for Bacup.
When asked about the pitch Peters reiterated ‘ it was always going to be heavy and energy sapping’
Fitness was key for Bacup over the 90 minutes
‘ I was really pleased on how the lads adapted to the conditions, the way we played on a whole, the way we attacked, the way we defended against the opposition. It was a very very good team performance’.
Back to winning ways for Bacup as they put an end to a five game winless run which saw them put in great performances away at Charnock Richard in the FA Vase, a ‘game which Boro were well in going into the last quarter of the game’ quoted Peters.
When looking back on the other defeats another away cup tie, this time in the Challenge Cup, away at Holker Old Boys, Bacup were pushing for an equaliser at 2-1 after heading over at one end Holker countered and made it 3-1.
