MANAGER REACTION: On this day we were different clas

Following the 4-0 away win at Nelson The Bacup Borough Manager Brent Peters Had This To Say

“I was really pleased with the result but equally both myself and Coach David Felgate felt really proud of the boys not just by the fact they won the game ,but the cherry on the cake was the manner in which they won the game, we work hard with the lads on roles & responsibilities within team shape, not always do we get the team in its entirety fully carrying out their responsibilities, however against Nelson it is fair to say this the boys did fully as a team, it really was a polished performance from the lads, we looked a good well drilled side that each and every one of our player’s not only were aware of their own responsibilities but also that of their team mates, this to the extent that we was always in control of the game from the outset, Peters added “ we got ourselves in front which came from a quality delivery from Anthony Hall, two weeks ago I criticised my mid field player Darcy O’Connor for not heading the ball, well Darcy made sure he made me eat my words has this time he complimented the quality cross with a well placed header giving the Nelson keeper no chance, Peters went on “ no matter how much a team is in control of a game, the opposition will definitely have a good spell, it is how the team handles themselves through this spell which will probably dictate the outcome, well this game was no different, just before half time Nelson were having their best spell in the game, we only had a slender one goal advantage, it looked like we had lost this advantage when somehow our keeper Harry Turner pulled off a fantastic reaction save, it really was a top save, said Peters “ From witnessing a top save to witnessing once again one of Michael Gervins special free kicks from over twenty yards out, just like the save, the precision of Michaels kick was sheer quality, Peters added “ the football in our approach play leading up to our third goal from the penalty spot was really good on the eye, Nelson felt hard done by when a penalty was awarded only because Michael Gervin stayed on his feet but without doubt it was a penalty, Peters added “ Gervin was fouled, he stumbled in the foul but gathered himself but the foul was enough to put him off and the Referee was perfectly correct in  his decision, Anthony Hall made no mistake on two occasions from the penalty spot with two quality strikes,

Peters finished by saying “ irrespective of our goals and how they were executed, the bottom line being, on this day as a team we were different class, with this producing football you would expect to see higher up the leagues, the football was excellent, the goals and save were special, with this collectively, we fully deserved this victory “
