Managers Reaction: 2nd Half Effort Reaps Reward

Manager Brent Peters spoke following the game when he had this to say “ First of all I would like to compliment all of the boys in making such a long journey on a Bank Holiday when in retrospect the game had no importance, it was a great effort from the boys and really shows the attitude the majority of our boys have shown all season, Peters added “ in terms of the game itself, in the first half we had lots of the ball but frustratingly our strikers seemed happy to be stood with their defensive four, Peters added “ I realise they had made new friends but being so close to them did bite the biscuit, hence some strong words from me at the break, Peters went on “ the players I had selected to play upfront are not the type of players to put themselves up amongst big strong centre backs, they are athletic talented players that require the space to be able to produce their skills, not have their attributes stifled by getting into fights every time the ball was delivered forward which was the case in the first half and very much why in the first half we barely looked like scoring, no way was I allowing this to happen, Peters went on “ I was pleased by their reaction coming into the second half, there is an old saying, being cruel to be kind, believe me there was cruel words spoken but praise at full time by the way the boys responded, Peters added “ It was evident to me it needed a different kind of striker up there, I changed the shape to 3-4-3 and pushed Adrian Bellamy up front, on this occasion my decision proved to be positive and correct , it is rewarding when this happens, however there has been plenty of times when decisions made have not worked out like I wanted, so when it does happen it is very pleasing, with Adrian up there it gave us a different dimension and gave our opponents a lot to think about, this created the space I was striving for in the first half, this then got our talented athletic players in Anthony Hall and Matthew Dell, Louis Holding more into the game, assisted by the runs of Josh Walne, Milo Ogen and Jordan Wilmore worked hard in the middle of the park, whilst Laquan Esdaille, Davison Banda and Oliver Crew were in control at the back, equally Kyle Brooks & Ben Rhodes made honest contributions whilst on the pitch . Peters finished by saying “ Not the best start but the ideal ending “
