Manager Reviews Games

Bacup Borough Manager Brent Peters Comments.

April has proved to be a difficult demanding month due to the remnants of the bad weather we have encountered, the boys have had nine games in this time where we have managed victories against Stockport, New Mills and Promotion chasing Whitchurch Alport, Peters added” the latter being the highlight has our win against them did prevent them going up automatically but have qualified for the play offs, Peters went on “ there has been highs and lows during this period but given the demands on the players of having to play games with very little rest between days, given three of the teams we had to play in this time are very much promotion contenders, even in defeat there were more high’s than lows from a Managers perspective, Peters added “ After an impressive three nil win at New Mills on Saturday, Monday we were faced with the task of trying to spoil Silsden’s Promotion party, a win against us did guarantee promotion for them, Peters added “ the fact that this talented side had been at the summit for the majority of the season, no matter how hard my boys worked and have worked in a demanding programme, has much as I wanted to spoil their party, it was never going to happen, they were strong, fit, athletic and very much a talented group of players that on the night were very much determined to achieve their goal, Peters added “ they will be the Champions and rightly so, congratulations to them, however despite a result that turned out to be a resounding victory for the Champions elect, I had my own group of Champions when twenty four hours later we had to pick ourselves up and travel to the Wirral to take on another Promotion hopeful in Cammell Laird, I had six players to whom had played the night before in Adrian Bellamy, Matthew Bryan, Josh Walne, Jordan Wilmore, Karl Price, Ben Rhodes, in addition Elliott Collinson to whom featured against Silsden but although did not participate against Cammell Laird but did travel for the bench and Bobby Carter to whom did not feature against Silsden but did play the entire game against Cammell Laird, these players creditably committed to the cause, in addition we had four boys from our under eighteen cup winning side in Louis Holding, Kyle Brooks, Kieran Reece, Oliver Crew did all feature on the wirral with Kyle Brooks making his debut along with Juan Sala, the entire group were absolutely outstanding against a team very much in a play off push, Peters said “ yes we conceded in the 80th minute to loose by the odd goal, but what Champions those boys and the team were for varying reasons which certainly made me feel so proud even in defeat, Peters finished by saying “ Whilst all of the squad have committed to the clubs cause credible, My Captain Adrian Bellamy and Vice Captain Matthew Bryan have been outstanding in their leadership, Matthew Bryan having scored twelve goals in March and April with six man of the match performances out of nine games in April must be a favorite for the leagues player of the month award, “ It may not be the best of seasons but fighting against the weather, playing catch up and having to play so many games in a short space of time, these guys have been a real credit “
