Match Report: Bacup Borough v Holker Old Boys

Bacup Borough 2- Holker Old Boys 5
Bacup Borough and Bacup Borough produced some amazing football on Monday at the Brian Boys West View Stadium but it proved to be a costly night for the home side, first of all a car with three players broke down on their way into the game from Manchester, then with this being one of many re arranged games on an unfamiliar night at West View, the gate was well down, but those that stayed away, certainly missed a game with terrific entertainment value, then ten minutes into the game the Bacup Captain Adrian Bellamy was forced to leave the pitch due to sickness and was replaced by Oliver Crew making only his second start having progressed from the clubs under eighteen team, Manager Brent Peters was highly delighted with what the youngster produced on such a difficult night for the club, if the performance of Oliver was a plus, Bacup were suffered another blow when the Bacup stopper suffered a terrible injury which turned out to be a fractured chest bone, whilst the brave Nick Sharples carried on to the break with the score at 2-2 no way could he come out for the second half, with no substitute Goal keeper on the bench, another promising youngster from Bacup’s under 18s striker Louis Holding volunteered to take up the goal keeping shirt in the second half, this was a brave decision for the young player who showed terrific confidence.
The second half got underway, given the circumstances Bacup found themselves in, it was always going to be a tough second half, this proved the case when on forty eight minutes following a free kick at the edge of the Bacup box, the young stand in keeper confidently came out to collect but got bullied losing grip of the ball which was struck into the net, there must be a question why no one had reverted back onto the line in order for this eventuality to clear, following this, experienced left back Rees Welsh following a conversation with his Manager Brent Peters took over in goal this allowing Louis to progress up front into his naturel position, whilst two more goals followed for Holker, Bacup themselves were extremely unlucky themselves when Josh Walne struck the ball goal bound only to see what would have been an incredible goal come back off the upright, this the story of the home sides night, an evening from the off which brought no breaks at all.
