The start of another tough week for Bacup as they faced a Silsden side on the brink of promotion. Bacup and manager were buoyed by an impressive 3-0 away win at New Mills.

Brent Peters handed a debut to Kieran Reece, who is one of many u18’s who have been drafted in to the first team following their impressive cup victory. Oliver Crew has impressed when called upon in the first team and was handed his second start.

Silsden took the lead half way through the first half with a volley inside the penalty area.

Matty Bryan equalised for Bacup 5 minutes before half time, after chasing down a Jordan Wilmore through ball, Bryan pressured the silsden centre half into a mistake, he gathered the loose ball and beat the on rushing silsden keeper, rounded him and finished the ball into the empty net.

On the stroke of half time Borough fell behind for the second time, as a cross from the right was turned home at the back post.

3 goals in the space of 15 minutes put the game to bed for the visitors and saw them in touching distance of promotion.

Borough came close to reducing the deficit through Collinson and Bryan but neither could find the back of the net.

Silsden added a 6th late on to seal the 3 points they needed.

After the game, manager Brent Peters congratulated Silsden by taking to Social Media

‘Congratulations to Silsden, their movement and desire was good through out and finishing was clinical, not forgetting they have been around the summit for majority of the season, all the ingredients that make champions’
