CAMMELL LAIRD 1-0 BACUP

A PERFORMANCE TO BE PROUD OF.

By Matthew Lawson

Having been in action only 24 hours earlier against now promoted Silsden, Brent Peters side were on the road for the last time this season as they travelled to Cammell Laird.

Brent Peters handed first team debuts to Juan Sala and U18 cup winner Kyle Brooks. Starts were also handed to Benjamin Rhodes and Bobby Carter.
Captain Adrian Bellamy, Matthew Bryan, Karl Price, Josh Walne, Jordan Wilmore all started despite playing just 24 hours previous. Nathan Tayo and Davison Banda were also back in the starting lineup for Bacuo.

Both sides had chances early on to break the deadlock, but both Karl Price and Matthew Lavelle proved to be in inspired form as they pulled off a string of saves when called upon in their respective goals.

The game was pretty even going into the half time break, both sides enjoying plenty of the ball but both failed to make the possession count.

The resolute Bacup defence was eventually broken down and the deadlock was broken with just 10
Minutes of the game remaining.

Despite not getting any points from the game, Manager Brent Peters did have something to take back to the Rossendale Valley, Pride, Pride in such a side that included 3 U18 players and a debutant. Along with the rest of the team fought tirelessly despite a game only 24 hours previous.

It was an outstanding performance from the lads.
