PETERS BEMOANS HOLIDAYS AHEAD OF SEASON OPENER

Bacup Borough start their North West Counties League Season this Saturday at Daisy Hill, but despite Manager Brent Peters having brought together a squad that is more than capable of improving on their last season’s eighth finish, the Bacup boss has been left frustrated not only going into their season opener but for the first month of the campaign.  Peters is highly delighted with the quality of his squad despite the loss of last seasons leading goal Scorer Anthony Hall to Winsford, Peters has moved to bring back the previous seasons leading scorer Matthew Bryan from Unibond Side Trafford, talented mid field player Arran Kirk makes a welcome return after spells at 1874 Northwich, Congleton Glossop & New Mills to add to a talented youthful squad, however despite a good pre season which ended in a 3-1 win at AFC Wakefield, Bacup Manager Brent Peters has been left bemoaning on the fact he will for the first month of the season be no where near his strongest side due to Holidays, mixed with suspensions carried over from the previous season, already going into Saturday’s opener at Daisy Hill he will be without the services of Experienced Centre Back Laquan Esdaille, who will be this seasons captain following the departure of Adrian Bellamy. Esdaille has a one match ban from the previous season, in addition striker Matthew Bryan is returning from holiday but will not be back in time to participate. Local boy Ryan Siddall to who has made the step up from the under 21s is also suspended from last season whilst his brother Kyle is unavailable due to being away, a frustrated Manager Brent Peters had this to say “ I am delighted with the quality of the squad we have assembled, it is young, talented and athletic. However for  various reasons,   mainly holidays which to be honest infuriates me when players playing at this level after three months off take their holidays when the season kicks off, Peters added “ getting off to a good start in any season in any league is important, despite the fact it is a nine month season and a lot of ups and downs can happen in this time, hitting the ground running sets the tone but sadly I don’t see me having my best Bacup side available for another month, something that aint half frustrating, I hope that the players that are available for selection will do us proud and make it difficult for the absentee’s to get back in,, Peters said “ but when you have the likes of Matthew Bryan, Laquan Esdaille, Michael Gervin, who himself is not available until the end of the month. Arron Kirk whilst available for the opener he will not be available for the next two games it does not help in getting continuity, Peters finished by saying “ It is what it is, as frustrating it maybe we have just got to get on with it and hope that we all get what we will be striving for – a positive start “
