Players Step Up In The Second Half

Following the game Bacup Borough Manager Brent Peters had this to say

“  We are all delighted to have come away with all three points, the points were fully deserved based up on opportunities we did have, it would have been a total injustice to have left St Helens with only one point for our efforts, I was disappointed by the fact St Helens had opened the scoring and the manner with which this happened, whilst I realise we are a very young side, with this very much work in progress, but there is only so many times you can tell a player to check their shoulder, to organise players around them in order to restrict any opportunities for the opposition, despite this scenario constantly being coached from the technical area, our left side Midfield player failed to heed the warnings and low and behold we got punished for it, Peters added “ it was a shame has we had started the game well but credit to all of the boys for the manner in which we did not let this set us back from which they all responded in a positive manner, Peters commented “ It was an hard decision for me to make bringing off young Alex Mellor at half time, the boy is a good honest player who gives everything for the cause, the fact I had Michael Gervin on the bench to whom is not quite upto speed on his match fitness but what Michael gives you is not only the vision to quickly see a run for a pass, but he has great technique, being a goal down it was a no brainer he had to be introduced, I must admit, I could easily have brought anyone of another two players off and moved Alex into their position, something that did cross my mind, in stead the other two survived with a warning and flea in their ear at the break, to be honest it did serve a purpose has they stepped their game’s up in the second half,  Peters added “ the later change I made with the introduction of Joel Gnabouyou was always on the cards as young Kyle Siddal in every game he has been selected has put in terrific work rate both in and out of possession, I was delighted for Joel who once again executed our all important winning goal, but my entire delight must be by the fact of how well, particular in the second half is how the team in its entirety did contribute, I thought again the defensive unit of Ross Mallinson, Oliver Crew, Bradley Hancock, Peter Monteith and well marshalled with a quality captains display by Laquan Esdaile were different class, the players to whom disappointed me in midfield in the first half did step their games up in the second half, Peters finished by saying “ I am delighted with the contribution of the front lads of Matthew Bryan, Kyle Siddle, and Joel Gnabouyou, not just scoring which helps but their overhaul contribution for the team, in addition we have equally plenty of good lads that in this game had to settle for the bench, Peters added” there is a long way to go, we are going to need each and every one of them, it is important no one gets despondent they are not getting a start at the minute, but as we know, it is very much a squad game and currently we have a young squad that is very much talented “
