Preview – BARB v St. Helens Town

By Jay Taylor

Bacup welcome St. Helens Town to the Brian Boys West View Stadium tonight to continue their good form after an impressive victory over Runcorn Town last Saturday.

BARB impressively saw off Runcorn Town 4-1 to end their unbeaten start to the season which gives the side great confidence going into tonight’s fixture.

Last Saturday saw St. Helens drop points for the first time this season as they were heavily beaten 4-0 at home to Alsager Town. Second half braces from Michael Blundell and Shane Reaney saw the points go to the Stoke-on-Trent side. St. Helens first two games of the season however were much different as they beat Maine Road (2-1) and AFC Blackpool (3-0) with Aaron Morris scoring in both games and will be one to keep an eye on.

Last season saw BARB take four points out of six against St. Helens with the away fixture resulting in a 1-1 draw and the home fixture finishing 3-2 to the Borough after two worldies from range by Aaron Kirk and Barry Massey.

Last season Town finished in a nervy 17th place just four points ahead of ourselves and will certainly be looking to finish comfortably in mid-table this time around.
