Bacup Borough FC are pleased to announce an initiative with Veterans In Communities (VIC), a group working with and for armed forces personnel and veterans throughout East Lancashire and seeking to establish a dedicated community centre.
As part of the initiative VIC are asking for local businesses and organisations to support the veterans by offering something back for the sacrifices they have all made on behalf of their communities and their country. The club have therefore signed the VIC ‘Pledge’ and will be offering reduced price admission to armed forces personnel and veterans of £2 on production of their warrant card or veterans pin badge. A copy of the pledge will be presented to the VIC at the forthcoming League Challenge Cup tie with AFC Darwen on Saturday February 16th.
Business Development Executive Dave Edler welcomed the move: “At the end of the day its the least we can do. These people have put their lives on the line so we can have the privelege of doing things like watching football in peace on a Saturday afternoon. Whatever your opinion on recent conflicts from a political perspective, and I certainly have mine, it is not the fault of our armed forces who simply go wherever they are sent in a spirit of duty and always give all they are asked to and more. Any VIC members taking up our offer will be made to feel very welcome at the Brian Boys West View Stadium”.
