Rovers Look To Put Something Back Into Community With SUPER DRAW

In a move believed to be unique amongst football clubs Bacup Borough FC launch their new SUPER DRAW lottery this week with a promise to distribute some of the proceeds amongst other good causes around the Rossendale area. The lottery costs a pound a week to enter and offers a weekly jackpot of 2,000.00 plus smaller prizes. Whilst Bacup Borough FC will enjoy most of the proceeds, they are also setting up a ‘Community Action Fund’ to help smaller organizations that don’t normally have access to funding or fundraising projects.

Bacup Borough’s Business Devlopment Executive Dave Edler explains: “We are lucky that football in this country enjoys a large profile and Bacup Borough FC obviously benefits from some degree to that exposure. We like to think that we are well known in the Valleys as Rossendale’s senior football club and that people will come out and support us in this venture. However there are also many smaller sporting, cultural and community organizations in Rossendale that don’t enjoy the same profile but nevertheless perform sterling work for their local communities. That is why we will be ring fencing an amount from our proceeds specifically to fund a small number of projects where grants from 50 to 250 pounds would make a difference. The exact number will depend on the number of people signing up for the new lottery but you can join in the knowledge that all of the local community will benefit”. Edler continued “Any organizations interested in applying for a grant from our new Community Action Fund (CAF) should in the first instance e-mail me at davidedler@live.co.uk with a brief outline of the project concerned”. Bacup hope that the new lottery will enable the club to build on a sound financial footing going forward and help them achieve their ambition of reaching the Evo Stik Northern Premier League.

The new lottery is being run in conjunction with Sheffield United FC and this is the start of a series of new partnerships that Borough are looking to establish with northern based Football League clubs, with further announcements due soon. Edler said “Sheffield United are providing the infrastructure to set our lottery up and are also sponsoring the club in other ways for which we are very grateful. We are sure that this partnership will prove beneficial for both us and the boys from Brammall Lane going forward”. The club are also looking for lottery agents to come on board and are offering a generous commission package. Anyone interested can call Dave Edler on the new Bacup Borough FC commercial department number 01706 871733 or on his mobile 07715 629525.

Commenting on these latest developments Bacup Borough FC manager Brent Peters said  “Bacup Borough Football Club are very much committed to the community of the Rossendale Valley with this, and in order that we are in a position to give Community groups something back, yet at the same time create valuable funds to progress the development of our own football club, it was important that we formed links with one of the major football clubs that could produce the entire template in order that all aspects could be achieved. Whilst there are other clubs out there with successful lotteries, none could match the entire package that Sheffield United successfully operate”. Peters added “It is with pleasure that we welcome our links with the Yorkshire club, however like with any project, in order that Bacup Borough Football Club and the many local community organisations that may need a leg up in gaining some much needed funds are successful, then it is vitally important that the public support Dave and his Commercial team by subscribing to the lottery. If people do, then we all are in a win win situation”
