Tricky Season Opener For Borough

Well, pre-season is over and the trialists have been given their chance to impress. Now the real business starts!! This Saturday August 4th we entertain Winsford United at the Brian Boys West View Stadium in our opening North West Counties League Premier Division fixture, kick-off 3 pm. It has been a disjointed pre-season for Brent Peters and Andy Hill but they also will have learnt a lot from the process. They now know which systems they can use with this group of players and which ones to discard. With a lot of players having been away during pre-season, Saturday will see the first time that Peters has had something approaching a full squad to choose from, although Gareth Wager is unavailable and there are doubts over Jamil Adams and Kingsley Williams. Bacup could hardly have wished for a tougher start to the season. Winsford are looking to push on from their 7th place finish last season and with ambitious plans to build a new stadium there look to be exciting times ahead for the Cheshire outfit. For ourselves we are looking to build on our fine cup victory (photo above) and really establish ourselves as genuine title challengers. It promises to be a game not to be missed so make sure you are nowhere else this Saturday and catch up on the Olympic highlights later!!
