Youth Plans Announced

Manager Brent Peters is delighted to be able to make a positive step forward in the process of progressing the future of Bacup Borough Football Club by bringing on board two excellent well respected Valley Youth Coaches in Kevin Jelley & Lee Barrett to whom have been a successful part of Rossendale Valley Juniors for several years.

Kevin & Lee will be responsible for what will be Bacup Borough FC u18’s in which will be entering into a Youth League. Peters added “Unlike what other clubs have done with their youth set up by keeping them on the edge of their club or in some cases not connected with a senior club this will not be the case, our youth will be very much an integral part of our club in every sense of the word be that utilising facilities, training, the lot.”

Peters then went on to say “Whilst in the past I have given first team debuts to lads at sixteen and seventeen years old; local lads such has Paul Waine, Martin Peters, the late Bryan Herbert & Nicky Taylor to name a few and this will allow more filtration of local lads coming into the first team arena and it also does mean that this will allow the boys to have grown into the club.”

“It would be good to see us progress even younger age groups into our fold however we must walk before we can run, the simple fact of the matter is running one team is costly so to run several teams does obviously bring with it a whole lot of added costs and responsibilities but this must be our aim.”

Peters finished by saying “I have the utmost respect for the people to whom devote their time and effort at grass roots level and the well run established Junior / Youth organisations, the good thing about bringing in Kevin & Lee is that there most certainly can be a means to an end for these boys, the means is to strive to get to first team and the end is achieving this, it all bodes well for the future.”

There will also be an open invitation for trials and all budding footballers are welcome to come and join the team, dates will be posted for this later.

This exciting new development will be in place for the start of the 2015-16 season and will participate in its own youth alliance league with the lads vying to push for the senior squad.
