Managers Reaction: Important To Win The Game

brent283Speaking to the Bacup Borough Manager after the Eccleshall game he had this to say.

” We are now well and truly at the business end of the season, it is more important now to get results than performances, do not get me wrong in this game we were impressive but we were not consistently fluent has we have been, we would play some quality football, then our game would get to what I would describe as loose, then we would be back to our best again, Peters added ” when we were loose I could sense some frustration from certain supporters but for myself it is so important for us to win the game and that is what we did so job done.

Peters went on to say ” we could not have started any better than we did, the initial pass over the full back from Kelvin was well weighted which led to our opening goal which was two in two for Jordan Rutter, the build-up play for our second goal and the finish from Matthew Barlow was something special to see, best described has great quality throughout the move with equally a quality finish, Peters went on ” we had several other opportunities to have increased on the three goals we did score, Michael Gervin could himself have had an hatrick but constantly took the harder options when the easier options would have certainly got him on the score sheet. Peters finished by saying ” I thought the performance of the match official was poor to say the least, In my opinion the first yellow card to young Anthony Hall was harsh when he took the ball, granted his challenge was from the side but from the direction of the ball it was obvious the lad had cleanly won the ball, from this decision and yellow card, later in the game it had serious consequences when according to people better placed than I was situated behind the goals, they tell me that the Eccleshall defender did pull on Anthony Halls arm which just happened that the well placed ball in behind did strike the Boys shoulder, the Assistant did flag that it was handball and from this the match Referee deemed it to be deliberate, only person that did apart from the person assessing the official, but he was stood on opposite side of the pitch and further away from me, Peters added ” to now have to lose Anthony even for one match is not ideal at this stage of the season, Peters then said ” if this was not bad enough of a decision, the challenge on Matthew Barlow was x certificate, Matty has an hole in his shin which from impact did go through his shin pad, ripped his sock before inflicting this damage and having to leave the rest of the action, Peters said” the fact this challenge did go unpunished confirmed how inept the official was, Peters finished by saying ” if we were to lose both players at such a crucial stage of the season would be a massive blow”
