Managers Reaction: A Very Difficult Game Indeed

Bacup Borough Manager Brent Peters Had This To Say “ I give the utmost credit to Sandbach on their victory, football is about attacking and when in a position to score be better than the opposition’s defenders, on the other hand it is about defending well and ensuring you keep the opposition out, on both fronts we failed, I have some sympathy with my forwards unlike their opposite numbers, my strikers have had to work for everything we got and when the breaks did come, which were plenty, they met a goalkeeper in terrific form, I thought Matthew Bryan was magnificent, his attitude and determination despite what was going on around him just epitomised his position of vice captain, at the opposite end our defending on this occasion was absolute shambolic, we have conceded four goals from set pieces, this is an area whereby each player must go toe to toe with the oppositions attacking player, the simple fact being, this just has not happened, it seems on the day each goal has come from a clever striker, this, or clever attacker of the ball against naive defending which we have been punished by ball watching, not once but on each corner, if this was not bad enough, we had one player marking space something Brent Peters sides do not do, in a simple couple of words” just not good enough” Peters added” I am disappointed by the result, of course I am, but despite this, I put down to human error by certain individual’s for their mistakes, away from this our performance and creativity was good but not credited due to an inform keeper, a sentiment echoed by my counterpart at full time, I put this performance of certain defenders down has a blip, in previous game’s they have been different class both individually and collectively as a unit, we will put this result behind us, hopefully learn from our deficiencies and move onto the next game, a game against Charnock Richard in the FA Vase which will inevitably tell me if my defenders have learnt from their short falls, a very difficult game indeed.”
