Managers Reaction: I’m absolutely delighted for everyone, Boys have done me proud.

Following progressing to the North West Counties Play Off Final, The Bacup Borough Manager Brent Peters had this to say ” I’m absolutely delighted for everyone at Bacup Borough Football Club, after what without doubt has been a roller coaster past few weeks, Peters added ” it was always our goal to get into a play-off spot, at times with the weather bringing constant postponements, the injuries, this coupled with the season running over, which has resulted in key players not being available as was the case in the Semi Final, with the loss of our leading goal scorer Matthew Barlow. I did at times start to think too many unfortunate situations were transpiring against us, which would mean we could well miss out, this especially when following our then, second game in three days.

When the boys had to put one heck of a shift in against Holker to win the game, but to then travel to one of our play off hopefuls St Helens two days later, to whom had not played since the Saturday, it was little wonder we were flat and St Helens brushed us a side, Peters then said ” despite adversity I never once have doubted this current bunch of players, they have been a fantastic bunch to work with, they have taken on board everything that myself and my Coaching Staff of Andrew Barlow & Ferre Edwards have given them and responded with creditable unbelievable work ethics, in some players playing with injuries, but they have just delivered in order to attempt to get us into a play-off position which they eventually succeeded.

Peters went onto say ” Once it was confirmed we had secured a play-off place with one game to go, that proved a blessing in disguise, as this did give me chance to leave out lads ready for the Semi Final and with this give fringe players a run out, the bigger picture at this stage was not entertaining the home crowd and a win in our final home game of the season, it was always preparing everyone for Monday, which obviously paid off by the result and performance the boys did put in against Stockport Town in the Play Off Semi Final,  Peters said ” the fact that our Semi Final was away on an artificial pitch, in some quarters this was greeted with trepidation but not in my mind Peters said, he added ” all season we have trained on artificial, within our squad we have talented footballers that constantly have shown me just what they are capable of producing on such a surface, so it was no surprise to me just how well we did play to progress to Saturdays Final,  Peters went onto say ” taking into account the magnitude of this play off Semi Final and what was at stake, I would say that was the best team performance of the season, I really did think we were different class, even when Stockport changed their approach and tried to put balls direct onto our defence, the defencive unit were solid in every department, well supported by our midfield, when we got the ball we would break with a meaning which resulted in not only scoring two goals but in addition we had excellent opportunities to have doubled our two goal cushion, Peters went onto say ” kelvin Trippier and Adrian Bellamy have both creditably started every game this season, so for me it was fitting that Kelvin was pulling the strings in our Midfield and Adrian Bellamy scored an excellent goal and also assisted in Matthew Dells opener, Peters finished by saying ” all what we have achieved up until now will be for nothing if as a collective team unit we do not put in the same intensity, the same concentration levels and showing that will to win, Peters said” the Boys have done me proud in lots of adversity, however, in order to get the surmounting accolades that will no doubt come their way, it is mega important we do not fail or let ourselves down in this our Final game.  Their work has only just started, if they can see this through and get this great historic club back into the Premier League on Saturday, then it will have been undoubtable one brilliant achievement”
