Managers Reaction: Our Luck Will Turn, Results Forthcoming

Manager Brent Peters Post Match Comments v Charnock Richard FC.

From a difficult start to the 2015/16 season & following an heavy defeat at Widnes on New Years Day of 2016 it was following this that we went on a terrific run which saw us make the play off final at the end of last season, it is now such a run we need to do once again, Peters added ” from what I witnessed against a very good well organised Charnock Richard side which for me look every bit capable of winning this league, then my young side are more than capable of repeating such a run, ” Peters added ” the fact we are currently in a losing habit this may seem an illogical statement but believe me it is not, Peters said ” given the magnitude of our task going into this game with Charnock Richard, the fact I had only a bare sixteen to pick from which was void of little experience, on the day of the game Trent Simm had to pull out due to sickness which resulted in a late reshuffle, yet I witnessed a good honest bunch of players that did take on board their pre match instructions to almost the letter which got them to half time with nothing at all to suggest which team was near the bottom, to nearer the summit, Peters added ” in our past couple of games I have been critical of our midfield area which led me to make changes in this particular area, Martin Brodderick a recent signing from Cammel Laird added steel and quality, complimented by Tom Coulson who for me, whilst still in his development, his education at Crew and Fleetwood and now getting game time with us in a difficult competitive League is most certainly bringing the best out of him, he will with game time continue to get better, James Constantine always gives an honest work rate performance but against Charnock Richard he added more than that to his game by competing well with his opponent, Peters added ” with more game time together, a better understanding of each others game will bode well for us in future games, I am sure. Peters said ” breaking the deadlock did hinge on small margins at what is always a critical time, just before half time and just after half time, just before half time Artjoms Butorins without doubt should have scored, players know they must stay alive in the box, but sadly Artjoms switched off when their keeper fails to deal with the shot, Peters added ” he did react but late and that was poor, in games like this against top of the league opponents, chances are at a premium, when they come, they must be taken, this we did not which with what later transpired did cost us. Peters went onto say ” Peters added ” two minutes after half time the deadlock was broken with what seemed a cruel deflection off Tom Halligan which was a shame really because he was in my opinion up against a very good striker in Carl Grimshaw and judging the first 45 minutes it was an excellent contest between them both which Tom was on top has he had kept him at bay, Peters said ” when results are against you, lady luck tends to also desert you and so do decisions, in my opinion with only one goal in the game, I did feel we should have had a penalty, my counterpart from Charnock Richard will disagree but with two players coming into a sandwich on Anthony Hall, his quick feet in moving the ball was one thing which I will give the benefit of the doubt that their defender did get a touch on the ball, this may be so, but the other player pushed the player to the floor, what ever their manager may think, handling a player to the ground in the box is a penalty all day long, Peters added it was not given, once Charnock got their second it was always from that moment game over as a contest, Peters added ” their second goal seemed to knock belief out of the boys which helped Charnock to get a firm grip of the game to go on and deservedly win the game well of which I do not have any complaints and my boys should take heart from competing well for long periods with a good strong team that will get promoted.
Finally Peters finished by saying ” My job does not get any easier by the fact I would dearly like to bring in some experience and leaders to help these boys on the pitch, not having Kelvin Trippier and Shane Birtles available due to surgery has left a big void, the quality experienced players that are around are reluctant to drop to level six in the National Pyramid, the ones that will consider are asking for finances that I would never dream of paying that could put the clubs future at stake, this happens too many times with clubs to which have now gone out of business, a football clubs history is always more important than personal pride, all we can do is keep working hard, put in honest performances, eventually our luck will turn and results will soon be forthcoming ”
I would like to single out the performance of young Harvey Close making his first start for the club, Given that the boy was asked to play in an unfamiliar role due to the late withdrawal of Trent Simm, I thought he was immense today, his reading of situations, his timing and competitiveness was different class “
