Managers Reaction: Seven Different Players On Score Sheet

Following Bacup Borough’s seven nil victory I spoke to the Bacup Manager Brent Peters who had this to say”

” I need to be first of all guarded in my comments has I do not want to be seen to being disrespectful towards Whitchurch in what is obviously a difficult time for them, but equally I must give my honest opinion on what our boys produced on the day.

Peters added ” we can only deal with what is presented before us, the fact that our visitors have encountered problems and some players disgracefully fail to turn up for them is not a matter for us, we are at an important stage of our season, each game will throw up different issues, all of these differing issues we must deal with if we are to achieve our goal of the play offs, this game brought about a bizarre situation to us, by the fact the Whitchurch options were limited, having played us only just over two weeks ago they were fully aware of the difficult task in hand, made more difficult from certain absentee’s, from this they set their stall out to basically park the bus, from this we had to find ways in and then having found our way in, we had to beat their impressive keeper Craig Banks,  Peters added ” we achieved all of this, we dominated possession which was to be expected, we scored seven goals, we conceded none and got the three important points we were playing for, so once again the boys must be credited for this, Peters said ” I have been in this game a long time,  I have come across situations like we faced against Whitchurch and I have witnessed shocks, this coming from players being blazay, players making uncharacteristic errors in the wrong areas of the pitch, and refereeing decisions going against you, all can have a bearing on how a game such has this one can pan out against you, Peters said ” it was massively important given our situation that we ensured none of the above scenarios could affect us, this would only happen if the Boys are focussed, disciplined by playing the same has one would if it was the top of the table clash.

Peters said ” I am pleased to say the outcome shows the disciplined performance we produced, Peters added ” I could say we should have played at an higher tempo, we should at times have kept our shape better & certain players needed to tighten up their individual games, we should have been more clinical in front of goal, the simple fact is when the opposition offer very little by way of a contest, all that said is easier said than done.

Peters finished by saying ” I was more than happy with what we did produce on the day, more importantly the clean sheet, the three points, the fact that our seven goals were from seven different players was also inspiring and the fact I could utilize my substitutes by introducing players who’s chances would be limited with a full strength squad available, so all in all a positive afternoons work”

taylor283It looks like local boy Nicky Taylor season may have had to finish prematurely due to a recurrence of a hamstring injury.

Manager Brent Peters Commented to lose such a vital experienced player in Nicky at this stage of the season is a blow, sadly his appearances all season have been limited due to this ongoing injury.
